So yeah, this is my deviant thang...

Sat Apr 21, 2007, 11:05 PM
So I think I'll begin by giving a little background on me. I've been drawing since I was about ten years old and I really started getting good when I was about 15. I started out emulating a lot of Disney's artwork: The Little Mermaid, Belle, Jasmine, etc. I got into comic books when I was about 16 and really fell in love with the X-Men.

I drew a lot of X-Men characters for a long while and when I was about 20, I started roll-playing on-line on AOL. I'd do character portraits for my friends' characters and produced some X-Men fan art, two of my drawings won in an X-Men art contest - one in '98 and one in 2000. I believe it was called 'X-Day' or something like that.

Flushed and encouraged by my winnings, I began experimenting (finally) with even more original art. Unfortunately, life threw me a curve ball and I decided to join the military. I kept drawing over the years that i was enlisted - still finding time to do character portraits for myself and friends during RPG campaigns - but I never seemed to have enough time for my hobby.

Fast forward a couple o' years, a marriage and two kids later... my husband kept gently encouraging me to stick with my drawing. Over the last year or so, I've produced a few good sketches but was frustrated with the way my art was turning out when I scanned it in. We purchased a copy of Adobe Photoshop to help with the 'clean up' chores on the scans but I was still not satisfied.

It was then I discovered a wonderful FAQ on Questionable Content - a web comic that I frequently read published by J. Jacques. He mentioned using a Wacom Intuos3 tablet and I knew that was what I wanted.

I've had the Wacom for about six months now and the Jasteer photo was my first experiment in color with it.

If I had to say I've been influenced by anyone, it'd definitely be Jim Lee, Joe Madureira and Mel Uran.

So that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Stay tuned as I'm about to start publishing more Exalted art very soon!

Well, I have posted something I can be proud of! Granted, Jasteer's not done but it's a start and one that I am so happy about.

I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems scary and wierd. It'll happen to you." - Abe Simpson
